Why do you think this is true?!

Question: People who would never in a million years say something negative about a black, asian or hispanic person can easily say mean things about an over weight person. Why do you think that? Is it cause they think fat people deserve the riddicule? I am just wondering!

People like that are ugly on the inside...and it helps to make them feel better...the classic "school yard bully"

Nobody deserves to be ridiculed. RESPECT!! =)

I have often wondered the same thing, especially having battled my weight since I was a youth.(I won a really big battle when I went from a size 28 to my present size 16/18!)

I don't think ridicule makes a person want to lose weight, usually. It was about HEALTH for me and wanting to stick around to see my kids' kids have kids.(I'm 30 and my kids are 5 and 2!)

Discrimination is discrimination, and words can hurt.

Some people are alcoholics, some are sex addicts, some are liars; we all have weaknesses, being overweight is a weakness that shows. it is a shame to ridicule anyone.

People just like to have a reason to be better than some one else no matter what. If it wasn't my weight, it was because I was the new kid, or poor, or a girl. All in all the problem lies within the person dishing it out.

No one deserves to be flogged because of their race, gender or ethnicity. These are areas in our life that are OUT of our control from conception. Being overweight to the point obesity IS (this idea of thyroid problems is overused) generally the person's fault although I am not saying they deserve to be ostracized in any way. However, even though most won't say it, I will...they become medically dependent on welfare and medicare because so many of the problems of obesity are EXPENSIVE but PREVENTABLE!

The problem with obesity is that people want to accept it as normal and IT IS NOT! It becomes a very serious health problem that all taxpayers pay for in the long run. Race, gender and ethnicity are normal and that criteria has little to do with taxpayer dollar payout on medical conditions.

Sandy :O)

i would never in a million years disrespect any race or anyones body type or handicap....not my business so i keep my comments to myself
