i am a hot air balloon pilot, and own a company out of Connecticut. i have been ballooning since i was young (my father is a pilot), and have been around balloons all of my life. it really is an exhillarating experience. many people are initially scared by the burner, but being used to it, i don't even think about it any more. they are really gentle giants. i can't believe how many people don't really know much about them. you would be surprised at how many people think that we still use sandbags to go up by throwing them up. they haven't done that in over 100 years!
