POLL ,Do you consider yourself more or less affluent than your parents?!
Question: My parents are very affluent. Because of that I have been able to study and live and travel all other the world since very young. My lifestyle now as artist has been greatly made possible to be maintained because of my parents affluence. That is, having had the financial start other artists must really struggle to have until they accomplish themselves.
However my parents have not been responsible for my success in art. I have done the work and have been very meritorious at it. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MY PARENTS AND MYSELF IS: I am not materialistic at all! They are. In fact I am the only one of their children
remaining (the youngest died last year) who IS NOT interested in any material acquisition to validate me or my success, rather my work does and my very simple, almost hermetic lifestyle I live. frugal and reclusive. No fancies, no frills! This makes it infinitely more akin to work as much as I want to. My dedication has become to my vocation, which is art.

my mom was able to stay at home with my sister and I. We lived well on the money my dad made. It was my dad's choice to retire when he did. They bought their first home (new construction) for $28,000.I went to private school for 8 years.
My husband was downsized (at age 50 with a college degree) and has been struggling to find work. He land what he calls the retirement job of his dreams. We have one in high school and one in college. We both work and live pretty much paycheck to paycheck -
There was a time (maybe 10 years ago) if you told us our lives would be like this we wouldn't have believed you. We are living on less than half of his salary. The prices of health insurance, food and gas are really what's killing us!

only have a mum, now dad died 16yrs ago, so mum and i are equal were individually affluent.
