you need to move to new orleans. you can smoke in any nightclub or bar, and alcohol is served and sold 24/7. ya, i know, the no smoking indoors law, but have you heard about our politicians??? we do what we want. light a blunt and you will still be fine on Bourbon Street.

Gah! Tell me about it! What makes it worse is that most places don't have an area where you can smoke and drink - u have to leave the premises completley, with NO alcohol and smoke in the street *sighs*

We haven't been able to in Canada for sometime now. I'm not complaining because it keeps that sh,it out of my lungs. Also, in some places were not allowed to smoke in our cars if there are kids under 18 in them.
That's it...I am cancelling my trip to Ireland....lol...

maybe you shouldn't smoke at all, people are dying because to many people are smoking. I go to the hospital once a month everyone is smoking. children's childhoods and lives are being ruined.
i don't know personally but i hear a lot of ppl don't like it but the same time a lot appreciates the smoke free pubs

I do not smoke but I think governments like I'm thinking your from England as you said pubs, and the United States are getting a little crazy on health issues. I mean what's wrong with a smoking section and non smoking section. Seems they did that first only to go further. What's next is what I'm thinking???

here, you cannot smoke in ANY building AT ALL besides your own home.
unless its on an indian reservation.
AND
you cannot smoke any closer than 20 ft. form the entrance of ANY building.

I'm a non-smoker but I wonder about the wisdom of the smoking ban. The town where I live has an indoor shopping centre. Since smokers have been banned completely from cafes they go out into the car parks to smoke - taking their poor unfortunate infants with them. So now their kids have to breathe in petrol and diesel fumes as well as cigarette smoke.
Sorry - I know that deviated from the question a bit. As far as pubs are concerned - where adults who have a choice are involved - perhaps landlords should be able to choose. The reason they can't, I expect, is for insurance purposes. In years to come their staff could probably sue if they got lung cancer or heart disease.
Remember, YOU VOTED FOR THE PEOPLE that banned smoking! Here in Minnesota the only place you can smoke is in your house, car, outside, but not on gov't. property. Some apartment complexes are even banning smokers from smoking in their apatments.

No it isn't. But instead of of going into a smoky pub lets all be thankfull of the sick and piss smell that wafts under your noes when you walk into a boozer. Lets all be thankfull for the intimadation that you feel when you walk past a group of pissed lads to get into a bar. Let the doo-gooders drink in piece while their friends stand outside. Lets forget that peoples jobs went, lets forget that pubs went out of business. Lets forgot that more tax income comes out of ciggarettes than anywhere in the united kingdom. F#ck the smokers the dirty gets. If they had give the choice to pubs, smoking or none smoking, i wonder which pubs would be out of business. And lets not forget that when summer comes around and the rain goes away and all the lttle boys and girls want to sit in the beer gardens, then the new witch hunt will begin and we'll be banned from smoking outside aswell.
