Question: Someone is offering me a job to baby sit two little girls (4& 5 1/2) five days a week from 6am-noon for the summer
doing the math. @ $5an hr(below min. wage here) i get $150 a week and $1800 for the summer
holy sh*t that's alot of money!
(at min wage (7.15) that'ed be $2,574)
I'm 13(will be 14 in july). Is this a good job for me? i have TWO brotheres (2 & 5 1/2)
and YES i have a bank account (but i've barely got $1000 bucks in it over the past...8 years)

I would take that job in a heartbeat. It's good, dependable money. And you only to work until 12 - that gives you most of the day for fun, summertime stuff

and the hours are great you still have the rest of the day to hang with your friends

yes.. considering you're not even old enough to legally work, then the min. wage doesn't apply to you.. i wish i got $5 an hr while babysitting when i was your age..
that is an excellent job. you can do alot with that money..
I used to watch 3 kids at your age for the summer and that was how much I made a week. It is worth it. And you can't compare it to minimum wage because you aren't paying taxes

that sounds low for babysitting. but minimum wage is only relevant when talking about a job that is on the books (taxes get taken out). this is straight cash

No don't take it kids will be more trouble than they are worth! And for $5 per hour to baby sit two little girls is nuts, what are these people cheap!
My suggestion is that you take some of your money and buy a lawn mower. Then go and ask people in your neighborhood if you can mow their lawns. Charge $20 per lawn and make it a goal to do 5 per day.
Now doing the math that equals $100 at say 5 days per week equals $500 per week or $2000.00 per month.
That would give you $6000.00 in your bank account at the end of summer.
Just do a good job and be there when you say you will. And if it rains call them and tell them you will be coming out the following day once it stops.
Don't go into the child care business privately you wouldn't get paid what you are worth!
I would defiantly take that job. I am thinking about taking a baby sitting job myself, I'm a little older than you. It does make pretty good money. =]
