Why don't most people consider fish to be meat??!

Question: i'm a vegetarian and when i tell people they ask "so do you eat fish?" and i say "no, i dont eat any meat" and they'll say "well fish is not meat!"
what the heck is it then? ever heard of crab meat? crabs are fish! people confuse me sometimes.

i agree
anything with eyes that u eat should be considered meat

i agree completely

I guess it just confusing for the carnivores (or omnivores) amongst us to really understand the various types of vegetarians we encounter...

...some eat no meat whatsoever
...some eat fish
...some eat eggs
...some eat a LITTLE bit of meat now & again

...yet they all call themselves vegetarians.

i've never understood that one either. It strikes me as very odd & i think anyone who is like that is a bit backward in the head :)
In reality they probably dont eat red meat/pork & so on because they dont like it, not out of any conciecious decision to not harm animals. Also fish contain a lot of minerals that the human body needs that are hard to obtain from other sources, so someone may really want to be entirely vegitarian, but may need to eat fish on health grounds.

Fish are meat, but crabs (while also being meat) are crustaceans, not fish.
