It's simply common sense.
It used to be you could pick anyone up and give them a ride, now you have to lock all your doors and never make eye contact with anyone else just in case they feel like shooting the next one that looks at them.
How canst know a stranger?
I'd like to help people out and give them a ride but these days it just isn't safe. And that is a shame that we have to worry about bad things happening to us because we try to help someone.
Unless it was an old lady, I would offer a lift.
Never offer a ride to a stranger, apart from anything once they are in the car you have to make painful small talk. Thats never nice.

I used to do a lot of things that I wouldn't dare do anymore. That's one of them. It was on our local news where a good samaritan stopped to help 3 men broken down on the road. One of them stabbed him with a knife while one stole his wallet. He lived tell about it, but it could've turned out the other way. No, not me!
