Sorry sweetie, but you should maybe not go sar far as slapping yourself but when you take on the responsibility of doing something, then you are the one responsible for the research, the pay (or finding where to get it) and whatever consequences occur from that action, bad or good.

I'm not downing you, just calling your attention to you and your feelings. You know deep down already that this question you seek was already answered because you already inately knew that that was way too much! So, my rule of thumb that I'll pass on to you, never ever pay for anything even when you feel desperate until you do the following:

Research, research, research. I have the belief that there is some company, somewhere, that would have been willing to help you for a cheaper price. What people do is play upon your desperation. When you talk with people, sound calm and don't give into their bullying, attitudes or any other form of baiting you into getting you to pay big $$. They play upon your emotions and they know it as soon as you call, that's what they are trained for! Now, in the future, like I said, research. Meaning, get estimates first, don't pay until you get at least three others and make sure the estimate is free. Tell them to include the entire cost, including taxes, any extra labor, etc. And don't pay if you don't feel comfortable.

Now if your plumbing is falling apart, then that's different. That may be a problem :). You've got the power baby!

Take care.

OMG ! Are you kidding me ? Slap the hubby, for not having been able to fix it himself ! LOL ! When things break in the house, it is always very expensive ! I hear you sister !!

it is normal it happened to me

the neighbors wife

You could have almost bought yourself a new washing machine.

Should have just bought a new one.

Should have gotten a warrenty on it! But yeah repair men rip off! You should have slapped him lol

the washer i think cuz that what a repair man costs thesed days honey. my mom spent $300 dollars for three diffeent times to look at her washer to come to find out that she needs a new washer so it might be ur washer. so honey a $150 dollars is ******* cheap i think

you have been a victim of highway robbery. he got you by the nads, you know? what cha gon do? fix it yourself? he knows he's your only option so he's gonna git ya

You should have asked him what the charge was first and then shopped around. I have found almost half the difference before when I need something done. So, slap yourself this time.

you should slap the repair man for ripping you off!

Seems REALLY excessive to me!

You Need a Warranty or Fix It Yourself....!!

yep, that's normal. next time you can ask ahead of time how much they charge just to come to your house for the service call.

I'd slap the dog!

Just kidding...

$150 just for the visit?
That's ridiculous
Slap the next person you see

For that price you would have been better off buying a new one, call the repairman back and say you need something else fixing then give him a big slap and tell him to get lost :)

It's normal. It's a service call, time and gas. I got billed for a for $95.00 service call for my dryer. The guy was there for 8 minutes (I timed him) to replace a circuit. I was pi$$ed, but paid it. Without them, appliances don't run.

Slap the postman!

Just the air there, this is life it's a /'/''/ but true.

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to buy a new one?

It's disgusting, but it sounds about right. I don't think these people have any morals or standards. It reminds me of a joke though, which naturally I won't put here, because then I would be violated...lol
Maybe you should look for me in jokes and riddles....<g>

It would have been cheaper to buy a new one. I had the same thing happen to me. We bought a new Maytag about 20 years ago and she still works. It was well worth the money. The repair bills on the other one would have just about paid for the new one. Good luck.

I hope you got a kiss with that, because you sure got screwed!
