I think its a good idea to ask at least 2 days in advance.

I think at least three days. It shows respect to offer an advance invitation. I would prefer even more. Personally, even if I have no plans - I would say no if someone asked me out less than 3 days in advance. It also shows organization and responsibility.
3-4 days but if you got someones number I think you should call pretty quick just to talk anyway
