Answers: I can't agree with ID cards unless they are

i don't agree

agree

No no no! 100% against them

Disagree

i dont agree....just another way for the government to keep tabs on everyone !!

agree! =)

Yes and No :)

Um, what in the world would I not agree with? I mean, I have to have something that says who I am...otherwise any old person could run around pretending to be me...even though they prolly would NOT want to. I guess I agree they are helpful things.

Gawd no!!! How long before they "lost" the information??

if they replace passports, and they're free good idea

To what? Have them? For sure! I know people who have been victims of identity theft. And a lot of the cases were just a simple id check.

disagree. just another money making exercise and big brother scheme

agree

no but someone, i like SO much likes it

I don't object as I have nothing to hide and nearly all the information they will have is available on several other data bases already.

What I would object to is being forced to have it and then being forced to pay ridiculous amounts for it.

I disagree .... I know who I am.

Waste of money. We already have passports and driving licences, why do we need these? Just make Provisional Driving Licences complusory when you turn 17 and that would do it.

it's your unique identity

Yes I do, and I think DNA and fingerprints should be taken from everyone in the UK.

How much crime would there be then! nearly every rape could be solved in hours.

Any DNA, a hair skin, blood ect would lead the police straight to the culprit!

I have mixed feelings. Primarily I am against it. But then, I look at MySpace, and Facebook, and realise that most people are WILLINGLY offering a hell of a load of information to the world anyway. What is Facebook if not a national database?

In Washington you already have to have ID if you are over 18 and in any public place. National ID cards are a bad idea and unnecessary since the states have laws that cover it...

Of course, yes, agree. The very question ignores so many important issues that are too numerous to mention. ID cards are a necessary part of life in a multinational world.

the photo driving license is an ID card so why do we need more ID cards to say who the hell we are

i say NO

you'll prob find that the company thats going to make the ID cards are owned by several politicians any way so its them that will profit from it all

Yes very important .A must for all law abiding citizens .It can curb terrorism and other crimes to a large extent .

I do agree. I don't really see a problem with them. People say it will be too much like big brother and an invasion of privacy, but that won't be any different to the world now will it?
If the police are given the right to ask for anyones ID card in the street - an ID card that people are made to carry - then what's wrong with that? If you haven't done anything wrong, then what's the problem with taking a minute out of your time to show your ID to a cop? Those who have done something or are blatantly disobeying the rules can then be dealt with more effectively.
It will be absolutely no hassle to the general law abiding citizen. Just like it's no problem to carry your drivers license and your insurance when you go out in a car.

Disagree on principle
But given the recent problems experienced by HMG departments with regard to keeping data secure I find the whole idea very frightening.

Agree.

I don`t agree.we have too much of our personal details on file and computers as it is.also why should I have to pay for something I do not want???? dictatorship creeping in to our"freedom"or is George Orwell the man behind the government????

Most certainly do , anything which helps the fight against terrorism/crime and illegal immigration has to be good.No one is claiming that it is going to solve these problems but their introduction will be a significant help.

In principle I am totally against. But why stop there, why not make it more attractive. Have Gov issued mobile phones so you can be tracked as well. For security have a pin number or better a dna detector so only the owner can use it. Mobiles can be tracked already.
