with both my parents that raised me being IV drug users and my 'real' 'sperm donor' being a full blown alcoholic my family said I was destined to be effed up! how encouraging right?

I drank for close to 30 years.
I have been sober for about 8 months. Without AA.
I plan to stay that way but I take it it one day at a time.
I'd say I was addicted to lottery tickets. I am not now. Me and my friends in low places gave them up. :o)

yes. it is one of the only things, besides my family, that i am dead serious about. i will have 2 years on april the 15th :) hell i'm such a recovery nazi i even quit smoking after 8 years on Jan 1st of this year.

Hi my name is Big Wil and I am a practicing alcoholic. I have been through a rehab program and an extended amounts of sobriety. In my case my dealings with alcohol was by my choice as I drank to excess trying to forget the first Gulf War. I was treated for both the war and the alcohol and am now doing fine. Where I used to drink 18 beers in about 3 hours, now I can drink two beer and two cokes and a bottle of water in that order and be just fine. So I say I'm a practicing alcoholic, I'll always have the disease, I just found a program that works for me.
