benz - better reliability, resale, performance, warranty, and aesthetics
Ford. A New Basic ford is equivalent to a 4 year old Benz. I had both sold the Benz and kept the new Ford. The up keep is cheaper for the Ford as well.
Mercedes Benz is better for all the things others have listed as well as holding value. Sad thing is that Detroit could build a similar quality car or even better, but they don't.
I always buy certified pre-owned cars; excellent warranty and depreciation is no longer an issue.
