they just get old so we make new ones with the same meaning LOL
People just stop using them and find other words to replace them that have the same meaning, such as rad and dude

Popular culture has the most to do with it. As new words creep into song lyrics, television and movie dialogue the public replaces their old words with them.
Put very simply - language is a living thing and evolves with time.
new ones are found and old ones are forgotton
....truly a nosegay of verbous vocabulary seems to eluding the today's miscreants.......hence the downfall of the esoteric language and all it's idiosyncrasies & foibles..... one suggests that eudemonism evades us futher yet again and render us impotent.....this will excerbate the situation
