as long as he still means something to you, he has the ability to hurt you.
he still has the ability to hurt you because you give it to him. if you do not let what he says get to you then he will no longer hurt you. you must always tell yourself that you are better then he is and that what he says has no effect on you. if you don't then he will always have the ability to hurt you. don't let him do it anymore.
because you still care. perhaps too much of yourself was tied up in him and what he thought of you. let it go. he obviously has. ironically enough, being strong and not caring can sometimes make them come running back. which is good, because then you can reject them and give them a taste of their own medicene.
They say that when your truly in love, its like a stake has been grounded to your heart and the person who put it there is the one you love.
When that person leaves you and you still love them, it stings because your not with that individual anymore.
So whats the only way to remove that stake from your heart?
You drive another stake through it to take it out. Meaning you find someone else.

There are always people you know how to push your buttons, its very hard to not let them, just let him go and move on, pretend its better without him and avoid him at all cost, it slowly does get better.
