As this is the UK/Ireland site, I can remember paying 6d for a big bag of chips and 9d for a large piece of cod = 1/3d - about 6p in the rubbish we call money nowadays. Just compare it to today's prices ! ! !
About $1.40 a scoop and $1.60 a peice of fish, now fish is $4.60 and a scoop of chips is $3.50. :) How times have changed. Also I am 32 now so this is going back over 20 years ago now.
I was about 12 years old, so thats 32 years ago?mom gave me $5 and i went and spent the whole lot on hot chips ~ she flipped her wig when i bought them home cos we had so much food that both my parents and i and my sister could only get through about 1/3 of the chips and we were all chock full!! ?
The same amount of hot chippies these days would cost about $20 i guess?
CHEERS

I'm not sure, maybe a couple of quid. I remember when chips were about 35p! I must have been about 12, I'm 35 now
That's a well phrased question!
I dunno about £1.90
I'm a veggie now so I don't care
My apprentice's wage was £2.0.0d before deductions for a 44 hour week or just under 11d. per hour.
I can remember paying 6d for a big bag of chips and 9d for a large piece of cod = 1/3d (15d.).
I would have had to work for about 1 hour and 20 minutes to earn my fish and chips.
Even on today's minimum wage you would work for less time!!! ie. cheaper now.
I don't know because my mum bought them
still 21
I remember going to the chip shop at lunch time in school, it was 15p for a bag of chips. That was about 30 years ago.
