Question: Sweet corn is cooked and eaten as a vegetable. Surely you've eaten corn, on or off the cob, right? That's sweet corn, a vegetable.
Come to Indiana, you'll see enough fields of feed and seed corn to last you a lifetime! That is dried and used as a grain. Vast differences in types of corn. You can't "pop" sweet corn. You don't really want to eat feed or seed corn, they aren't that great. I don't really know what Indian corn is good for, other than a fall decoration. They make pretty good tortilla chips from blue or white corn, though.
