No, and if you look it up in the Bible, and read further into it, you'll find it actually says, something like, it is said an eye for an eye, but to turn the other cheek. It's up to God to dole out the vengeance, not us. Something along that line.

Yes.

Looking at the question and using it as an example, if someone poked my eye out, I would want them to have an eye poked out as retrubution.

Otherwise how would they really understand the pain and hardships that I would have to endure due to the loss of an eye.

I believe it would make them think twice before acting in a manner that brought harm to others.
