being able to think for yourself and make your own decisions

thinking for yourself...and not letting anyone tell you what to do.

There is no such thing. The world is intertwined on dependancy. You can't fully be independant.

Being able to live on your own with minimal assistance.

making your own desicions. taking care of yourself. not relying on anyone

Independent: Not depending on others, thinking and doing stuff your self on your own, For example working to pay your car bill instead of your parents paying it for u

The money to pay your own bills and call the shots. Otherwise you are dependent on someone else.

being able to financially support yourself without anyone's help

It`s being on your own without help from anyone else. Do yourself a favor, and use the spell checker.

Being independant is knowing how to look after yourself and others as well.

To be independent is to be self-sustaining - being able to fend for yourself and not relying on other people to do things for you or think for you. To be independent is to stand up for your own beliefs and individuality and to not care what other people think of your ideas.

Seeing as this is posted under 'Entertainment and Music', you could also say it is a musician or band that is signed under an independent record label like Rough Trade or B-Unique. These record labels are more likely to be producing music for the sake o the music, not profits. They are idnependent in their own ideas and have the freedom to be more experimental.

To me its being able to fend for yourself, stay tidy have a job and your own place probably rented, pay your bills with ease and budget well.
Having a car would help get you about at night.
Lastly be happy with your own company

being able make desion

Being able to support yourself (and) not relying on someone else for your happiness.

My idea of independence can be broken down into different sections but first in general independent is commonly understood as being able to take your own decisions and speak your mind and can provide for yourself (financially).

What I think is that this has many levels such as you can be a person who can independently take a decision about your life like what you want to do, where you want to school, this means being able to take a wise decision cos I think being independent and being wise goes hand in hand And yet still be dependent on your parent for money and so on. This itself suggests that you cannot be totally independent due to the fact our life are influenced by many things.

What I'm trying to say is that independent is not just being able to do whatever you want but be able to wisely decide the right thing to do and also that you can become more and more independent step by step as I explained before. I must also say that your upbringing (the kind of experiences you get and also whether they teach you to be responsible from a younger age and so on) by your parents has a lot to do with the kind of caliber you will come to be as an independent person.
Having said all above I must say that you cannot totally be independent but can work towards being as independent as you can be in this very intertwined society we live in.

I'm not sure whether I managed to Cleary express my view, so I’m sorry for any inconvenience.

the ability to finance, furnish and fortify yourself.

You 'Make it or Break it' on your own Abilities, or lack of.....!!
