I am updating the family laws so that new technologies like internet, email, instant messaging and webcam, can be more easily used to help keep families broken by divorce, more together and more functional. In most divorces, the courts split the families where one parent "wins" by getting residential custody of the children along with child support payments, and the other parent "loses" by having to pay money and getting only visitation for approximately 14% of the children's time, and even that visitation is denied with abandon, typically with no consequences to the violator. This has robbed millions of children of their right to have two parents active in their lives and parents their inalienable right to parent and guide their own children. But via the new internet technologies, families can mre easily stay in touch and be more active in each others lives, thereby not letting divorce, dollars or even distance to keep them so apart. By changing the laws so as to prevent judges from ruling out these internet options because they are unfamiliar with them or overly concerned about internet predators (which can be addressed by simple oversight of the children's internet activities), this opens up a whole new way for parents to reclaim their position in their childrens lives and for children to have both parents more active in theirs.

This is extremely meaningful work to be able to help mend broken families through the strategic use of the technologies we already have. I've already changed the laws in one state to make this possible and am moving on to others. Four states in total have this and seven others are on deck for similar approval. Making a difference for the better has been very gratifying. Thanks for encouraging others to do the same.

I think it would be cool to be a vigilante.
