Although, I have to admit, Space isn't so empty. It's just so big that there are vast distances between objects.
Everytime I break out my telescope and spot the rings on Saturn or 4 of Jupiter's moons and it's cloud belts, I am in awe. Overwhelmed? Definitely! It's amazing to think of all the wonders that are out there and we are really insignificant in the whole scheme of things. Have you ever seen another galaxy other than our own Milky Way? Believe it or not, there is one that is visible to the naked eye. It looks like a "star" but it can be seen without a scope or binoculars! It's called Andromeda and is about 3 million light years away. What really blows my mind and overwhelms me is the fact that everytime I look at Andromeda, I am peering into the past! The light that it has emitted and that is being seen by me, was produced 3 million years ago! How's that for overwhelming?
