Should the UK bring back capital punishment?!

Question: i know it's been asked many times, but with several familys of murder victoms in the last week or so calling for it i thought i would ask again.

they have this question on the vote on sky news and last i saw 88% of voters said yes, what do you think.

No I don't because they will be punished more by being locked up with other violent criminals, all you have to do is look at how many times the Yorkshire ripper has been attacked or Ian Huntley has tried suicide now if they had been executed they would not be suffering at all.I think they should build more prisons, give longer sentences plus get rid of this human rights rubbish for them instead and use them for medical science instead of using innocent animals.

sure why not? lol

Yes.

No, I think that the risk of executing someone who is innocent is not one I can justify to myself.
It is very difficult to be 100% sure that someone comitted a crime and beyond resonable doubt does not seem sure enough if you are talking about killing someone for something they may have done.
You also run the risk of short sighted executions in the "heat of the moment" where people are baying for blood with respect to certain case types where the case may not have been investigated thoroughly because of the need to get a quick conviction. At least with a jail sentence if the conviction is wrong then the person can be released, a posthumous pardon is not good enough.
I do however believe that the justice system needs significant improvement and that a sentence should be properly enforced in conditions where the convicted persons rights are limited to basics (food, shelter) and nothing more. A punishment should be a punishment.
Another quick point, DNA evidence is not the be all and end all, it can be wrong and it can be misinterpreted so the importance placed on it by juries now days is a little bit of a worry.

No.

100% yes..with all the advances in dna it's a must..

yes but just with cast iron evidence

I am one of the 88% :)

Bring back the guillotine! mwahaha :)

Yeah something needs sorting!

100% yes, I'm all for it.....a sentance is letting most of these monsters of far too lightly

Two things here:

1. They would never be able to do it again
2. Innocent people or people in extraordinary circumstances

Yes..

Sure...in certain heinous crimes

wel for steve wright yes

That is a difficult question. I live in a Country where there is no capital punishment and we are doing quite well without it. I would say that I am happy with the way that my Country is dealing with Serious Offenders.

PS. From Canada

I think we should.killers will live for years and tax payers have to cover the bill.then they could be freed after 12 years or so. the victims don't have that choice. fetch back hanging.

Don,t fret pal, I,m sure it will be in the pipe-line as the next line of attack at us Smokers!

Yes they should for serial killers and child molesters as long as there is no doubt at all about their guilt.

Yeah definitely but only when there is undisputable evidence which nowadays is fairly common from matching DNA. I dont understand when people say that capital punishment is inhumane because the crimes muderers and rapist commit are horrific!

yes it should...teach them a leason..WE DONT WANT MURDERERS OR PEDOPHILES ON OUR STREETS....

no

yes, of course - i love hanging around.

No. Never. It's brutal, inhuman and totally disgusting
