Why do they have seatbelts on airplanes?? But not on buses??!

Seatbelts aren't going to help you in bus collisions.

some school buses don't have them, but i've been on tons of other buses with seatbelts.
i don't know why schoolbuses don't have seatbelts..maybe it's because they don't think the people in those seats will be harmed in a car accident: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

I think they are for crowd control purposes, and to put a little blanket of security on the passengers.
Saying 'keep your seat belt fastened' is more likely to keep someone in their seat than a sign that says 'stay in your seat'. If the sign said stay in your seat during takeoff and landing, too many people would get up 'just for a second' to retrieve bags from overhead storage or to go to the bathroom as the worst possible times.
They're afraid the bus passengers will rip the seat belts off and use them to strangle each other.

Because the people on the plane paid 350 for that seat and the people on the bus paid 35 cents, nobody cares if you die if all you gave them was 35 cents that's the sick way this country works sometimes
Air planes have seat belts just in case they make a sudden drop or decent in altitude. If they didn't have them you just might find yourself on the ceiling. Bus don't have them because they employ something called "compartmentalization." They are high backed energy absorbing seats. Yet several studies have shown seat belts would provide "little, if any, added protection."
