How has your life deceived you?!
Question: Good mornin' Buk!
You know ... I don't believe life deceives us at all. We deceive ourselves ~ and allow others to deceive us. I ~ though far from perfect ~ believe that my life has been a direct result of my attitude. I live by the Charles Swindoll quote: "Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it." We are powerless over what life sometimes hands us and what others choose to do to us ... but we are NEVER powerless over how we choose to react to those circumstances. I have had hard times like everyone else, but I refuse to let them hold me down or keep me back because I am in charge of my destiny ... I will not allow any one person or thing to take that away from me.
Being a single mom with no real help from my family I went back to school to finish not only my Bachelor's degree ... but also earned my teaching credential ... and most recently a Master's degree ~ with straight A's ~ in the process. There were some tragedies in between (most recently the loss of my father at only 61 years of age) ... but I pick up the pieces and move on because dwelling on these "deceptions" won't help in any way and they certainly won't solve any of my problems.
If I choose to think that "life deceives" me then there is no point in fighting back. It isn't life that deceives us ... it's our own negative thoughts and actions that are the biggest deceptions of all.
Peace to you my friend ...
