Walking up the stairs, there less likely to get hurt. I have seen some people trip going down the stairs and get hurt seriously and thats not funny.

Someone tripping while walking up hurts as they hit their jaw or something. Tripping downstairs hurts more, but the fact they keeping rolling down the stairs is hilarious.

Any idiot can fall down stairs but it takes a really clumsy idiot to fall up them.
I've tripped up the stairs myself a couple of times, my mum says it's supposed to be lucky. I'm not entirely sure how that works.
