Is Success Really Sweeter When Gotten Through Many Struggles And Defeats..??!

Question: There is much truth in your question. For some reason which I have never been able to fathom, being able to emerge successfully from defeat and struggle does come across as being sweeter. I only have my own personal experience to go on in order to make such a statement. I came from a very poor family,; a happy family, but extremely poor. The Great Depression of the late1920's and early 1930's made it impossible for anyone from my background to get a decent education. I knew that asking my Father to help me go to College was futile, because there were times when we had so little money that survival was only a dream. I managed to get a 4 year scholarship; graduated with honors; completed my Masters and went on to get a Ph.D. My Father, with tears in his eyes was the first one to address me as Doctor, and we both wept buckets that day. Yes, it was sweet. Victory that triumphs over the impossible dream is always sweeter.

Yes it is

definitely makes it all worth it!!

Success is wonderful but more so in the face of adversity!

Yes, there is no joy when there is no sorrow. Happiness and sucess will mean more when you have gone through more to get there.

Yes it is

I have not yet achieved success, but I have been through many personal struggles and defeats. It will probably be like a breath of fresh air. When I can finally relax and know that there is nothing that I cannot overcome. That feeling is worth more than all the money in the world. The feeling of security and confidence.

I would think that the struggles would make the success much more appreciated. I can't remember a success recently. I will have to think about it. ;-)

it makes everything you did on the journey to success mean something, otherwise, its just a journey with nothing to show for it but ... struggle and defeat

Well it depends on what your goal is. If you don't use others as stepping stones to attain your goal; Then it will be worthwhile. If you use others and discard them as you near your goal; it will be bittersweet at its best but mostly empty when you get there.
