I thought I was....until I tried to take A-Level maths back in the day....I really struggled at that point. I still think I am quite good....but the gap between GCSE and A-Level was just too big.

Not even close. My teacher grade 11 teach passed me because he knew how hard I tried, and then made me promise not to take grade 12 math (it's optional) so that my average would stay high enough for university applications.
