Why is my Min Pin changing colors?!

Question: I asked this in DOGS but no one answered...strange. Maybe one of you guys here in PS can help me out.
My black and tan min pin has severe allergies and scratches all the time. She is on allergy shots and recently (within the last 6 months or so) her coat has changed from all black to a spotted red color. Not the rust or chocolate that they sometimes are but really red. What could be the cause of this and why now? Her coat is constantly changing from thick to balding because of the allergies but this is new.

My min pin is a red, and he started growing more black hairs down his back as he got older....And now, of course, he has a gray "beard" (his "distinguished older gentleman" look..lol!)
But, how old is your dog? My min pin started getting the increased black hairs down his back when he was about 3, and they've gotten a little more each year ever since. If she is fairly young, and the change in color seems abnormal, I would definitely talk to her vet and see if she is having a reaction to the shots, or if possibly there is some underlying condition causing this. It is always possible her coat is changing because she is reacting to the medicine in the shots. Good luck!
EDIT: When Clyde was about 8 years old, he got bit by something three times on his belly and developed black spots. The black spots never went away, and the vet said the skin can permanently change colors with injury, resulting in little black hairs growing on his belly (the rest of his belly has fine red hairs). Is it possible she could have scratched so much that she has discolored the skin, and the hair is growing in different color?

ask the vet

it could be a hormonal thing due to his allergies. speak to your vet and see what they say. do you know what is causeing the allergic reactions?? is it food related or due to a grass or plant? or cleaning product you are using. maybe you should try changing a few things to see if it helps. also there are allergy test that can be done to pin point what is causeing it.. it you can fix the problem then the coat should go back to normal
