10 pts. Best Answer- Everyone who wants to whine about their weight...?!

Question: Why can't you just be happy w/ being healthy?! I see so many people on here worrying about if they are too skinny or overweight. Also...why is it that people with eating disorders are felt sorry for when an obese person is looked at as being disgusting? Anorexic people could gain weight just as easy as a fat person could put a fork down.(We've all heard anorexia/bulimia is a mental problem...I don't want that for an answer) What are your thoughts on this?

Sadly, plenty of females are obsessed with their weight, and peoples' attitudes towards those who are overweight hasn't helped matters, especially for women.

It's been a part of our American society for awhile now, no thanks in part to the media, such as television, and especially the wafer thin "supermodels".

Seriously, these models represent whom?

You mean to tell me that women exist who are similar in weight and size and there are clothes made for people of that type?

I don't think it's true.

Men are also expected to be in top physical form, and while this isn't a bad thing, there are men who can't be due to other underlying physical conditions, such as heart conditions, muscle or bone issues, and the skinny fellas are often teased. Overweight fellas also receive quite a bit of harshness, but from both males and females.

Overweight females REALLY get a hard time, whether they are simply large in build or are overweight, they receive constant harassment.

Granted, we all should work towards losing weight for health reasons, yet, at the same time, people in our country need to ease up on those of us (yes, me) who are struggling with weight. It only adds to the stress of losing, and can set a person back emotionally and physically.

BTW, I used to be in really good shape BEFORE my heart condition, and have packed on pounds, BUT I am losing it due to a different eating regimen.

Losing weight should be about being healthy, and not a vanity issue.

healthy means being slim

i like the midrange women

my thoughts?

DAYUM!

Everything you said seems naive.

i think that in both cases people are struggling with how the view themselves. anorexic/bulimics choose not eating/throwing up as an outlet for their issues. heavier people, if its not genetic (since that is someone beyond control) turn to food for comfort. i think that everyone may need some help to get out of the mind sets they are in but we shouldn't feel bad for them. the more the general population feels bad for either sides of people the more of an issue it will be made to the people in the conditions.

as for me, i'm happy with how i look, even if its not perfect =]

Weight and self-esteem don't go hand in hand. If you're not happy with who you are at 160 lbs, then being 125 lbs won't magically make your life better. You'r still the same person, you just fit in smaller clothes.

for some people it is a mental issue....for others...not soo much....im fat and i dont have a mental issue...i jus need to stop eating sh*t..some days i pig out and other days i dont eat at all
