Yeah, the light helps A LOT! You can vacuum something on accident in the dark.. like a ring, paper clip etc.
not in the dark, in the daytime.... yes, daylight helps to find all the hairs that my dog leaves me on the carpeting as little gifts of nature -- (wish I could patent those hairs into something really useful).....

I let my wife vacuum. That way both of the kitties hate her instead of me.

I don't...I hire someone to do that. (I have severe allergies.)But not in the dark, it probably costs more.
My mom was blind and actually vacuumed sometimes. She got lost once. In the middle of the living room. I am dead serious.
