This is gonna sound real freaky ... but one of the ways you can give them some exercise is by attaching a harness to them and dragging them over the smooth surfaces of the floor. A) not only do they love it but B) you dust the floor at the same time.

Dryer, tumble dry on low heat.
Toss him up in the air. Catch him of course! The tossing will get his heart racing. Good for the circulation.
