What is the first thing you do when you get a new contact notice in via email?!
Question: I check out there Q's and A's (a few each) as well as see who some contacts and fans are plus see what they say about themselves. Trying to get a handle on if they are report-happy trolls. Sure I go to the extremes, but I want to be safe as possible. Sometimes I even send a email to them warning them that my humor can be out there, and ask them to not report me, but if they do not like something I said, just write me and we can talk it over.

I also check out their profile and see if some of their questions go along with the profile. Lately I even write to them to see if they're friendly. In the past I probably didn't quite understand all of this as well and have allowed people to put me on as a contact, yet I can't contact them in any way and have never heard from them. One contact now has no email due to her own problems with stalkers. But in the future I won't allow contacts who have no profile or no email address. I don't see the point of having them if they never contact you but can watch your questions and answers. I think there are trolls out there but there is also a lot of childish anger going on with people slamming others. I don't quite understand it all . My feeling is that if someone doesn't like something or disagrees, go to another site or click to another question. I've never reported anyone and so far I haven't had much trouble myself. This should just be fun for everyone..And unfortunately, the people that you might tell not to report you if they don't like what you say, are not the type who would listen or respect that anyways. It's unfortunate that in something that should be fun and interesting, suspicion is now flying around instead.

Check their points. Trolls are usually level 1/2 accounts. A level 6 is less likely to be a troll; they don't last that long.
I don't get new friends so i don't kno :( but i like ur plan lol
Pretty much the same as you do. Though not quite to your extreme.Though... Now you've got me thinking that perhaps, I should be a bit more vigilant. Thanks for the tips!
The very same thing. I read that profile and their q/a's and then flag them so I can watch for them. I've gotten a couple recently where I instantly knew there was no problem, so those I ignore But I've also gotten a couple who didn't bother reading my profile before adding me..and my finger is resting on 'block.' One more VN..and they are gone, I don't care who reported. If you can't be bothered doing what I asked..I can't be bothered writing you anymore. (used to write)

Check their q&a and their contacts, then if I'm in a good mood, I'll add them.
All of the above plus how long have they been on YA in relation to number of points.
If they have the same contacts as me.
I keep my contacts and fans each down to 50-60. Easier to keep track of.
Scan my fans box every day. Have had some bad experiences.
i take a look at how they answered 3-4 questions and what type of questions they asked. if i like what i see i add them.
if there isn't enough to go on i'll wait 2 weeks and re-check.
sometimes there still isn't enough. in that case i block them, then unblock them. that takes them out of my fans list.
since my profile is private they can't see anything in case they are a reporter. i've had a couple of people add me back within days, those i block.
I check out their profile. I've had people contact me that have never asked a question, ANSWERED a question...And have hundreds of points!!! TROLL ALERT!!!!! Also I like to see what kinds of questions they respond to & if they have a sense of humor...very important to me!!! I try to be careful too. You have to!
I add them first to make a note that they have added me, and then check out their details briefly. After all, I don't see why a troll would go to the trouble of adding friends like me, who don't have any restrictions on their profile. If I had trolls on my case, I think they would want to report me first. Either way, I like your style. =oD
I look at their profile and who is there other contacts.. take a look at some of their questions and answers..

i open the middle one and check there form 1st* and see if you can add them 1st* if i cant i block them* like you say they might be nasty trolls*
i check out some of their q and a also and the contacts, if I'm not sure I ask contacts of mine that I see there on their list. If none of my contacts are on their list I usually just wait and see some of their other answers........its a cruel cold world around here anymore....also if they dont accept email I wont add them ....I so have some contacts that dont accept email but they were added before things became hostile
I look at their profile and check their Q's and A's and contacts and sometimes let them sit as a fan for a while before I add as a contact
This has been a big problem. Ive noticed that their profiles don't match their questions. I check to see who their contacts are.I'm still in the learning process, so my answer is keep your contacts down. What I'm trying to say is there are a lot of spoil sports out there.and if you don't agree with them they will get even ! I am here to improve my computer skills.,exchange of ideas,learn new ideas,Answer, if I've had a similar experience.

I will block if I see they added me without asking... then unblock. They need to ask and my profile says that.
I know what you mean. I had this hot lil avatar wanting to add me. I had to "check her out" (Q's & A's). She had me with her lips all along...lol
