What do you think of people who take anti-depressants?!

Question: I've been battling depression for 15 years. I'm thinking about trying them again. I just mope around the house when I'm not working at my crappy low-paying job.

I've been taking Wellbutrin for a few years now, and I've been doing much better since! :) not 100%, but better!

I am happy that they are getting help instead of trying to get better on their own.

There's now shame in taking meds and 1 in 3 take anti-depressants at one time in their life, take care, good luck

Just buy a motorcycle instead, Best depression cure there is.

it is good that they are trying to get better.

go for it... they are always coming out with new meds to try that might work better for you

I think I am very brave for facing my problem and doing whatever it takes to live again.
What you don't control,controls you.......

It makes me sad.....

I know a great girl who takes anti-depressants, so I make no judgments.

As long as it doesn't become an addiction, I'm fine with it.

good for u! that "serotonin lack" makes life sucky and life needs to be good.

Depression medication balances the chemicals in your brain. If you are depressed you have a very good chance that they can help you get your life on track and maybe even develop the drive to better yourself thus finding a better job. I have been taking Fluoxetine for about 7 months now. And tho it doesn't fix your problems (whatever they may be) it helps give you that extra boost that you may need to get yourself out of that unexplainable "blah" mood. You should definitely consult your doctor so they can help you determine the best method for you. Good luck on getting better. Message me if you ever feel the need to talk about it:)

I'm sorry you get depressed. There's nothing wrong with taking medication or get help for it. We all get depressed for time to time. Please know that things can and will get better.Take things one day outta time and try not to worry about what you can't fix at this very moment. You'll just stress yourself out more. It's not worth it. Hang in there. Smile it helps.: )

I know how you feel. I've been chronically depressed for over 45 years. Been on and off them over the years. Nothing worked and I gave up the battle. Started giving them a try again about 3 weeks ago.

No dude don't do it, that stuff is all B A D. Lets kick it, Surgio will show u a cool time, we'll go get a couple of my lady friends and kick it for real. Everyone loves to kick it with Surgio. Strip clubs and Basketball games.

If you need them, take them. I mean, would you ask that question about somebody who took blood pressure medicine?
.

Honestly, I think that anti-depressants don't work the way people think they should. I did a study in college about different kinds of Anti-depressants. I used both real anti-depressants and placebos in the test. I found that both pills created the same results. I believe that most people can cure there depression with the help of friends and family or who ever makes them feel good about there selves. The pill in a way acts like a "friend" to a few people thus mentally giving them that little extra effort in becoming normal. A side effect you my notice is some people become addicted to anti-depressants possibly from the reason mentioned above. there is nothing in the pills that the body physically becomes reliant on so the addiction is considered "all in there head".
All in all I believe good support from friends or family is the best cure for depression, there is nothing wrong with talking about issues with a good friend or doctor. You'd be suprised at how many people are willing to help.
