Does it make you angry when they try and sell you an extended warranty in a shop!

Question: Yes Philip it does.....they are the biggest rip-off ever!

Answers: Yes Philip it does.....they are the biggest rip-off ever!

It shows that they have no faith in their product
And it insults your intelligence

yea they only do it because they know it will break!

when I really don't need it..then yes..but sometimes I really do appreciate it

no, just disgusted

Those generate mucho profit.

Yes, it does. I heard a story on Radio this weekend (Clark Howard's Show) where a car dealer was selling extended warranties but not sending the money to the appropriate place. A lot of Car owners are very upset because they found out their "extended warranty" was not ON FILE and they had to pay for the auto repairs.

So, buyer beware.

no but I get a little peeved when I say NO and they continue to hit it

Yes very much so,as if anythings gonna happen it will do within the first year.

Only if they don't take "no" for an answer an keep trying to change my mind.

every time....its like ok you have bought this item it has warranty you have your consumer rights...but hey give us some more money whilst your here so if your coffee machine breaks we can replace it...however they dont tell you that if you drop it and break it they wont replace it... thats why home owners etc have contents insurance. What you do is get customer reviews etc before you buy a product

What are you talking about Arnold?

If something breaks down that I've paid good money for I'll demand my money back or take them to court, extended warranty or not. It's just a con, don't pay for it!

I find that it works well to tell them, 'Don't need it buddy. If it breaks down, I'll buy a new one - I'm loaded'.

They don't have any good answers for that.

Believe me, I've used it two or three times.

I listen to the pitch with a look of complete interest, then when they've finished I say no.

It's not always the salesperson's fault, they are given targets they have to meet. I used to have to try to sell it and found it embarrassing because sometimes the warranty was nearly as expensive as the product.
It's all a con...don't buy it!

It's not the fact that they do it that gets me; its their persistence.

Hi,
not me----I usually pay cash for everything and ask for discount for doing so. They almost always offer the extended warranty at no cost in
the form of a discount.

Salespeople have a 'duty of care' to tell you about warranties or any product which may give you a benefit. If you find it offensive to hear about them, then perhaps you should decline their offers. If, though, the product goes wrong or breaks down, and you had not been told of available products, that may offer a benefit, how would you feel?
I hear this sort of thing quite often, but, if you don't believe in insurance why carry a spare wheel/tyre in your car?
Warranties are insurance products and whilst they do generate profit, they can save the insured party a lot of money.
If it were free would you be so offended? Most products come with at least a one year warranty or guarantee, if that were taken away by all manufacturers would you still buy their products? Truth is, 'yes' you would as you would have no other choice.
A wise man once said that the only guarantees in life is death and taxes, why did he say that, I wonder????

Yes it dose but that's Argos for you.

I just stare at them and tell them NO,,,,
