Yes it is very true.There was a study somewhere in the USSR on kids in orphanages that were basically left alone except for food and an occasional change of close. Horrible things became of them. Yes we need it.

I agree we all need love, we need to experience passion. When combined it is wonderfull. If passion is lost, we hope it is replaced with a few other aspects of true love. Respect, compassion, warmth and closeness of security through touch and smell. Passion can sometimes be confused with being 'in love' which is not always needed to experience it, passion that is.

Newborn babies die without human contact and affection, so do the elderly. As far as passion is concerned, we're wired to need passion so that we can continue the species. I don't think we need love and passion "constantly," but we surely need both throughout our lifetimes.
