Memory. You'll have to remember a lot of orders even though you write them down. And sometimes customers ask for condiments or extra meals at the last minute. And I think you should sort of memorize the menu so you can make your own shortcuts when you write down the orders. Either that or practice writing fast but legibly. Hope this helps!!!!

How to be nice and personable. $$

Smile a lot... Always ask " Is eveything OK?"

dont trip over your own feet!
watch out for ppls belongings!!

Contrary to popular belief - the costumer is NOT always right - you just have to bite your tongue and go with it. As painful as it may be.

Your customers!

the menu.

people as all kinds of crazy *** questions about the menu and for strange food combinations.

umm... other than that, write everything down. that way you'll have a smaller chance of getting things mixed up.

learn to accommodate to people's needs, like if they have kids, be sure to pay them some attention too

Jordan D is right.

How to be the best waitress:

1. turn up
2. hold a plate
3. smile
4. take lots of sh*t from customers
5.get paid crap
6. do this all over again the next day and the day after that.... and so on

Smiling and customer service.

1. Make sure you can communicate if there's a language barrier for you or your customer's in whatever language.

2. Be hygienic.

3. Memorize orders (That always impressed me)

4. Don't over check on the meal's progress.

5. Try to be personable and smile :) ( Gl!)

6. Be on time with a clean uniform ready to work!

or...

Find a better job.

HA. I was so nervous when I was about to begin waitressing , too. Being a waitress hands-down is one of the best jobs ever. My brother makes more than a teacher being a waiter. For one, don't ever get involved in drama, a hostile work enviroment is not good. Get along with the girls and have fun. Work is great when you're surrounded by friends. Just remember everything and watch closely. The reasons I ever get big tips is because I know about the alcohol selection, I know the menu, and I'm extrememly friendly without being flirty. Being flirty or too cutesy doesn't get good tips, just be natural, funny, and joking with the customers. It PAYS off, trust me. Being flirty turns them off, I've seen girls make that mistake countless times. Unless they are aggressive and flirty with you first, then you can be moderatley/appropriately flirty back. Oh, and since you're going to work at a mexican place, brush up on some simple phrases or small words as well. Customers tend to quiz the waitresses on little things like this all the time, and they are really impressed and leave big tips when you answer correctly. I've had this one guy leave a $50 tip because he thought I was so intelligent for knowing a few simple facts. Oh and if you mess up, the smile with the "oh, i'm so sorry, you're one of my first tables" really helps too. ;)

Just listen and be intelligent. Always look great too. It's really important. Go out of your way for the customers, even if they are demanding.

A lot of waitresses can't be great waitresses, but hopefully you will! Goodluck!

OH. and one more thing, know about malls, resturaunts, bars, and visiting centers in the state/area as well. A lot of non-locals come in and ask what time this and that closes and tons of tourist locations are like that. So be aware so you can help them.

"Are you enjoying everything okay?" Seems to go over well with them. =) I keep adding on, there's a lot to waitressing. Oh, and don't assume we just look pretty and smile. A lot of work goes into it too, trust me.

Pay attention to your customers, be freindly and look good. I do know that men will tip you well, if you look nice.*

Spanish? Lol just learn to be outgoing yet not annoying.

I think you will need to dress down and tone down the charm a bit to avoid getting pinched all day . Perhaps they will give you pair of Kevlar underpants to protect the backside. If you want big tips be sure and keep your top buttons unfastened and lean over as far as possible and drop silverware often . I'm not sure if you will need to get a green card : )

is it Mo's Caribbean Bar and Mexican Grill?
if it is that'd be wild...

Be nice to customers so many servers today are so rude & then they wonder why they can not get good tips & Smile............ Good Luck
