If the crowd attending is into metal or alternative rock, that should probably make up a good portion of the playlist. However, if you know your friends you should know some older favorites of theirs and yours that will get everyone pumped up. Keep it as diverse as possible and take a chance with a funny song or two thrown in for kicks. It's a party, it's your birthday, have fun with it!

Try watching much music, they play all the populare songs. Paramore is a really good band, especialy there song called misery bissiness. Three days grace, Sum 41, Billy Talent and my chemical romance are all bands that people like too. You could ask some of the people coming to your party, what songs you should play.
