There's no point in waiting for 3 days cause whatever is to be said will be said within the first 10 minutes. From those, you can determine whether people actually bothered answering your question. If it's a "yes or no" question it will be answered instantly with 50+ answers. If it actually requires some deep thinking and for them to make their brains work for a change before their fingers hit the keyboard which people usually are not too keen on doing, you'll receive some 7+ answers so again there's no point in keeping the question rolling. I keep it up for the day and then I resolve it.
I just close it after one day,I normally get all the answers I need & best answer from someone by then.

sometimes 3 days sometimes one day, it depends on the best answer, if I have it i will resolve the question.*
I usually resolve mine the next day.
