Question: shouldn't you tip me or a stranger who opens the door for you or makes small talk, smiles and in general is nice to you etc b/c really they common courtesy isn't commonplace anymore.

Well if he or she worked in the hotel i suppose i would if i was wealthy but i dont think its a good idea otherwise.
it's a shame too . common courtesy has gone out the window. i've had old ladies seem surprised when i stooped + allowed them ahead of me in the grocery line since they only had a few items
