Question: anyone have a recipe or know how to make things that taste like those? they were sooo good!

Answers: anyone have a recipe or know how to make things that taste like those? they were sooo good!

YES! They are delicious. But all the Arthur Treacher's in my area closed a long time ago. I just use this recipe and it's exactly the same!

2/3 c. club soda
2 1/4 c. biscuit mix
3 tbsp. dry minced onion
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tbsp. cornmeal

Mix all together and shape into 1 inch balls. Drop a few at a time into 425 degrees. Oil at least 3 inch deep in a heavy saucepan or deep fryer. Fry and turn until evenly browned (4 minutes). Drain and keep warm on cookie sheet in 300 degree oven until all have been fried.

It's the same recipe they used in the shops.

shoot just come to the south and get you some they still serve them down here with anything really

I think all it is is corn batter mixed up with some different spices and then dropped in oil to be fried

That would be Long John Silvers honey

There is such a thing as hush puppies. In the south we eat them with fried catfish.

vegetable oil for deep-frying
2 cups self-rising cornmeal mix
3 tablespoons self-rising flour
2 tablespoons finely chopped green onion
1 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
To make them even better add a little beer. I don't like the taste of beer normally, but it does something wonderful to hush puppies.

I LOVED Arthur Treachers....my GF and I used to go there for lunch during school in the late 70's.

Anyone else ever been to the one on Country Club Rd. in Mesa, AZ back then?

When you get a good one.....let me know.
