not always! sometimes I sit back and wait on someone else to volunteer the 'extra mile' position! Most of the time they don't, but when they do I'm more than happy to accommodate! I'm here and people know it but I am not to be taken advantage of!
It has always been in my nature to "go the extra mile." But, I have finally realized that I can only do so much for some. I have gone so many miles for some who obviously never attempt to help themselves. Some simply become reliant on those who "go the extra mile." This, I have found, is a waste of my time and it takes away from others who would benefit from my help. I no longer just use my time and knowledge to help those who refuse to help themselves.
I have spent way too much time and money on people who are melodramatic and cannot see where their source of problem is originating. I can use my talents and emotional connections for those who truly want to help themselves.
ETA: I will always give someone as much of me as I possibly can. I would NEVER refuse to help anyone. But, at the same token, I will not allow some to deliberately use my resources when someone else could benefit from them and gain greater knowledge about their particular problem.
