There may be 6 times more of you, but more people spell the English way around the world than the American way.
We Brits came up with the language, so, theoretically, we are right.

New Zealand:
-ize
-our

British?

The Americans just shorten the spelling because they don't spell very well and they're just making it easier.

The ones doing the talking at the moment. Have a healthy and happy new year!

-ise
-our

If it ain't bust don't fix it!

Realise is English.

Realize is US English.

so ize is US

so is or. US I mean.
I think US takes the easy way out in spellings.

Of course, British!

It's not just England. There's the rest of the UK, Republic of Ireland, Australia ,New Zealand and the english taught in non-English speaking countries would probably be the British form as well. Which means most of Africa, Europe and Asia would use the British spelling. I'm not sure how Canadians spell things. When you put everyone together there are probably more people using the British form.
AND...who gives a shlt. As long as kids can read and spell the way the rest of their country does it doesn't matter.
