They wanna feel like they did something right! Eliminate sugar but bring on the Fat!
Maybe they like the taste of diet better than regular. Personally, if I were ordering ALL that, I would just go for the root beer or Dr Pepper.
I personally think Diet Coke tastes better
reassurance... "hey i'm eating all this junk so i'd better get myself a diet coke!"
Because they already went WAY OVER their "calorie limit" just ordering the FOOD! =)

You gotta have that cushion of know that you ate or in this case drank something healthy during the day. "Yeah baby. I lost 2 pounds. You know I drink DIET coke right?? Girl try it it is working for me!!" LOL

Personally, I like the taste of Diet soda better than regular. But if I was going for chili fries and a double cheeseburger, i'd opt for a chocolate malt instead of the sundae.
All right; you caught me. the other foods are for comfort and the diet coke is only because once I learned to drink it I can't stand the taste of regular coke now.
The diet coke is to justify all the junk food they're eating to make it look like they're dieting!!!

In my Air Force days this guy would order a large combo pizza and a diet coke eat it all and complain why he was on the fat boy program.
