What does it take to be polite and courteous ?? Why do people find that so hard !

People are just rude sometimes. I'd like to say it's because of their upbringing but I think it is that they are so self absorbed in their own little world, that they think they are the only 'important' person alive.

It takes very little effort actually. I think people find it hard because they are so caught up in themselves and anybody who doesn't think like them or feel the way they do, they could careless. That I believe is where the crudeness comes in. There are I'm sure a few who truly think they are being funny even when it ends up being vulgar.

While I find myself feeling rude and vulgar at times, I do my best to supress those urges. I don't think many people do anymore.
I try my best to be polite and courteos always , i always say please and thank you and i also like to do a good deed daily . It may be little but it may make someones day . My children are a credit to me also i have been told many times are they are very polite also :)
It's a matter of respect and upbringing combined.
All it takes is a smile, eye contact and perhaps a "thank you" or a "please"... or even (gasp!) "you're welcome"... maybe even a "bless you" when someone sneezes.
I hear ya' on this one. It just kills me when people can't do the simplest things to be kind to one another. If you can't be kind to strangers - people you don't even know and therefore can't possibly NOT like! - how can you possibly be kind to your friends and family.
It takes 'very little' extra time or effort to be pleasant and courteous...!!
Many people have 'forgotten' or 'lost' their manners, if they ever had any....!!

Nope some people just get brought up in a way that makes them act a certain way (rude & obnoxious)
I guess they just behave this way in this case to prevent from being outcast or riddiculed them selves...
But I guess it just takes the right upbringing & friends...
Because nobody cares enough about anybody but themselves. I'm sure they are courteous to their own family and friends. Others think they are funny, but aren't. I am of course. ;D

i always teach my children to do the same
i have been complimented on how good my children are which makes me happy

It seems the "please and thank you" come more from customer service people expecting tips. Sadly maybe are getting to the point where they feel they should profit off courtesy. Alot of todays problems are the lack of good parenting and television. How often do you see politeness on shows kids watch? Never, unless they want something and begging,
no, you're extremely right..unfortunately, the motto that most people follow here is "nice guys finish last".Besides, being anonymous lets them do or say whatever they please, or so they think..Since we can't change others, atleast let's focus on not being one of them and remain nice or courteous or anything similar, if we ever were..
