I've seen interviews with World War One veterans who said when they looked at British society today they realise it wasn't worth the sacrifice. A pretty damning indictment.
I think that they would be ashamed for the lack of self control that society has today. The waste would absolutely blow their minds. Back then they didn't waste anything, now there is little that isn't disposable. They fought and died to protect a concept that just doesn't fly anymore.
Sad.
They would be so shocked by the enormity of everything to give much thought to that.

If you are talking about the warrior knights of long ago in England, I think they would be disappointed in today's society because they wouldn't be allowed to put on their armor, mount their noble steeds and go out to do what warriors did, i.e.kill their enemies. They were warriors! A warrior is someone who's number one function in life is to fight wars. To them, to die in battle was a noble thing. They were not fighting for a cause or principle. They were fighting for their own glory. The more men they killed the more glory they were given. I think they would be on the front lines in Iraq today.
