Movie taste question?!
Question: My wife and I had a discussion about movies tonight and she said I have horrible taste in movies. I hate most if not all romantic comedies. I refuse to watch any movie with Adam Sandler,Ben Stiller (except Mystery Men), movie spoofs or chick flicks... My top 10 movies are in no particular order are
1. any original Godzilla movie (japaneese) from 1991-2005
2. The George Romero Zombie trilogy
3. Lord of the Rings trilogy
4. Jaws
5.The good the bad and the ugly
6. Blazing Saddles
7.The departed
8. Blown Away
9. Bubba- Ho Tep
10. The Devils Rejects or anything else with Sid Haig in it

man, i agree with you. YOURE the one with GOOD taste in movies. your wife has horrible taste! i hate all those douch-bag so-called "comedians" that everyone seems to think are so damn funny. and they just keep recycling the same lame comedies. And i absolutly despise the horrible spoofs they keep making. why do people seem to think these are funny? i just dont get it. its like those horrible SNL spin-offs they kept on making a few years ago... its like, take something that is bad, and make it even worse...oh, its just so funny to see jerks acting stupid... wow....when will it ever get old? its so ridiculous and tiresome. how about making a good movie for a change, instead of force-feeding us this same old rubbish we've seen a thousand times before? the worst part is that it continues to sell! people still like it for some insane reason! what the hell is wrong with this society anyway?
i agree with you on this, even though i dont like *all* of the movies on your list (not a big horror fan, although i really like the romero zombie flicks). bubba-ho tep was so weird and funny. blazzing saddles is classic comedy.
id have some different movies on my top 10, but im sure we'd have a few in common--and at least we agree that romantic comedies are lame!

It's a sacrilege to compare Departed or Good Bad Ugly to chick flicks. There shouldn't be a comparison at the first place. You win hands down.
There's nothing "high brow" about the romantic movies or chick flicks that you don't like. Departed comes in high taste. Don't pretend to like First 50 Dates because everyone says so. Just stick to what you like.
One more thing, I won't undermine Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller. They are cute and I like a lot of their movies, but yeah chick flicks and romantic comedies are too annoying and they surely don't come under "high taste".
You have the Lord of the Rings triology on your list - you win best taste for me.
I'm not a fan of Sandler or Stiller either.
I like about 1/2 of the ones you do...but love a girlie movie, after all, I am one! I like comedies too
I'm with ya on the Adam Sandler thing...but I like Ben Stiller.
I'll watch ANYTHING with Kevin Spacey, Christopher Walker or Gary Oldman in it.
Well, personally I am a horror fan,,,,,,but i also like a few comedys with John Candy and Chris Farley,,,,,,and I also like a few black and white movies.....Dosent matter, different tastes make the world a better place!
You have good taste, but the comedies you mentioned with Adam Sandler or Ben Stiller are freakin' hilarious too...I love Zoolander!
the only movie i saw from this list is jaws and i couldnt tell you anything about it!!!!!! i dont really watch movies, i kno im weird i hear that all the time!!!!

If you don't absolutely LOVE Adam Sandler than i hate you!! I love Adam Sander! Click, Longest yard, Mr.Deeds, SNL, Wedding Singer, 50 first dates! those are just SOME of the best work he has done!!!

I have only seen "The Good The Bad and The Ugly " & "The Departed" from your list and they are pretty good films. Good taste.
I like some of Ben Stiller's and Adam Sandler's movies. And anyone who isn't fond of romantic comedies doesn't have a bad taste.
If you show the so-called comedies like "When Harry Met Sally", "Nine Months" and other cheesy romantic movies to the followers of Martin Scorsese, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino and Francis Ford Coppola, they will have just one word for those chick flicks - Worthless!
Any expert in filmmaking will agree with you. Your choice is pretty good.
Let me recommend you Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Casino, Apocalypse Now, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Schindler's List.
This is quality stuff that only comes under good taste. As the other person said, any critic or expert will agree with you on the quality of those movies.

ha i acutally like number 3 and 4 but i dont tell any one. i would waste time on any other garbage on that list
