i have seen young women wear strong perfume too.
so when the drive you somewhere they'll make you car sick.

Maybe their sense of smell is not as good as it once was so they put on more so they can smell it.
The sense of smell degrades as one gets older, so an older person of either gender tends to put on more.

and they want to be hip and buy the nicest perfume

Their sense of smell is weaker than it used to be. The same can be said of many men who wear too much cologne. Men have a lesser sense of smell than women do so they tend to overdo it in the cologne department.
I have noticed that for years i think they have something to hide. I pity the people who have to use elevators every day.

iunno, cuz they think they stink; and they do possess this weird kinda smell.
You can lose your sense of smell when you get older.
To cover up there smell, especially when they live in a nursing home (only because they dont get to shower as much if they were at there own home).

I understand that one's sense of smell diminishes with age, much the same as sight and hearing. They probably don't realize that it is so strong. Someday, hopefully, we will all be there. If not, that means we already died.

may be they think it covers up the smell of old age
some say that old people stink. i guess, it's by personal preference and what pleasing to their noses. as you get older your senses do change.

and they can't smell anything as good as they could way back so they don't know how much they're wearing.
