I guess the lady who always sings at the end of the opera has a tendency to be "pudgy" shall we say. When she sings her final song, everyone knows the end is near! Thus, the opera "ain't over till the fat lady sings". Don't be looking for her to sing today as it's Saturday, and it's her day off!.
