My stomach growls when hungry because of all the empty places. It really growls when I eat a banana on an empty stomach. It does not let me forget that fact either.

Your stomach growls because of the presense of air in the stomach. Your stomach contracts even when there is no food, thus making the growling noise. Also, your stomach isn't the only organ that growls, your intestines growl too.

The stomach is trying to process food, which is of course its job. Part of that process does in fact involve the stomach moving, so without any food in there the gastronomical digestive juices are essentially "sloshing" around. The sound gets muffled and distorted as it travels through your exterior flesh -- ergo, "growling" instead of "sloshing."
there is air in your stumach (yes what you burp out) that moves around when you stomach is pretty mutch empy, exept for the acids and the sort creating the noise, thats why i try to contantly burp, lol
