Yes, He was older and didnt go to my school. We stayed at the dance for about 1/2 hour and then went out on our own. having all my friends together and partying was way better than the dance.

1979, I did have a date and I had a blast. I went with a good Friend instead of a romantic interest. We danced and drank and made merry into the wee hours then went bar hopping in Manhattan. Drinking age was 18 in NY when I was young and living there.

At least one of the year's I actually went to my boyfriend's HS prom, and my HS prom, because we went to two different high schools. But after that and all the expense, I determined it was easier to just go out and party, then eat really nice, and skip the whole dress scene!
