yes, and I have no idea why we did this, it made our heads look so small so then we had to tease our hair to balance the shoulders....viscious cycle.

I never used them as an accessory. They always came in most of my blouses and dresses because I'm 5'1" and they make me look taller. I do have to admit though, I've cut a lot of them out because some are way to padded.
My wife went through that whole phase, back in the day.
She thankfully did not go thru the spandex phase that followed, though she had the bod to.

Most men's suit jackets still have shoulder pads. They aren't too obvious, though.
